41Many problems existed for educated women around 1900 (which continue into the twentieth century) in fashioning an identity among the different and contradictory perspectives on what and how women should be. These women’s search for a new position in the professions as well as in private life led to massive insecurities and coping strategies which are shown in these strange and sometimes even unconvincing means to make the fictional female medical students and women doctors fail.
